For Wedding Wednesday this week, I wanted to share the story of Lesley and Mark. A wonderfully sweet couple I met during the craziness of hurricane season in Florida last summer.
Lesley and Mark were all ready for their destination wedding in Florida, when Mother Nature had other plans. A massive hurricane blew in and their venue had to cancel a week before the big day!
Thankfully, Greg Wirth at the Phoenician Resort in Scottsdale was able to bring their dream wedding back to life in the gorgeous setting of the Arizona desert. And lucky me, I was the photographer he contacted to shoot it!
Lesley wore a stunning Pnina Tornai gown (pst! soon to be featured on the designer’s blog!) and Mark looked incredibly dapper in his classic black tuxedo.
It was well over 100 degrees out in the Orchid Garden, but you’d never know it looking at all the smiling faces of the friends and family that were there to clap and cheer as the couple smooched for the first time as husband and wife.
Some of my favorite shots for this wedding were the ones of the couple in the harsh desert terrain I found surrounding the resort. Not sure there is anything more visually stunning than the softness of the bride’s satin gown next to the jagged rocks of the desert mountain pass.
The Phoenician is also chalk-a-bock full of hidden gem locations throughout the resort, so we got some phenomenal shots under their breath-takingly modern chandeliers and on the fountain in the front entry way.
It was a truly wonderful shoot and I can’t thank these two enough for going with the flow and making a truly magical day out of a storm of chaos. Congrats you two!
